What to Expect
as a 56er
Season by season
League Play by Season
Madison 56ers is proudly affiliated with US Youth Soccer, the largest youth sports organization in the country. Our soccer teams will play in a variety of local, state, regional, and national leagues depending on your age and team level.
Fall
During the fall season, players compete in league play and participate in one to two tournaments. High school girls also compete in the Wisconsin State Championship and President’s Cup.

Winter
During the winter season, teams may participate in indoor leagues independently of Madison 56ers. Higher-level teams continue league play and attend winter tournaments.

Spring

Summer
During the summer season, qualifying teams advance to regional and national playoffs. Tryouts for the following year take place through late June.

Facilities
Training Doesn't Pause for a Wisconsin Winter
Trainings are held at Reddan Soccer Park in Verona and our dedicated indoor training facility in Oregon.

Community Volunteering
The Madison 56ers is a non-profit organization rooted in community. Each family is required to volunteer time to support club operations.
Age Groups & Team Structure
Where Your Player Fits
U9-U10
Boys and girls teams. Introductory competitive tier, focused on foundational technical development and local/regional league play.
U11-U12
Boys and girls teams. Regional level, with increased tactical training and travel for league and tournament play.
U13-U14
Boys and girls teams. State/Regional level, competing against established club programs across Wisconsin and neighboring states.
U15-U16
Boys and girls teams. Premier tier, with a demanding training schedule and exposure to college-recruiting-adjacent competition.
U17-U19
Boys and girls teams. Premier/Elite tier, the club's most advanced rosters, preparing players for the collegiate pathway.
Leagues & Platforms
Where Our Teams Compete
Madison 56ers competitive teams compete across recognized regional and national platforms, giving players consistent exposure to strong competition as part of their development pathway — not the entirety of the club's identity.
Regional League
Weekly league play against clubs across Wisconsin, forming the foundation of each team's competitive season.
National Platform
Select rosters participate in national-level events, giving players exposure to competition beyond the region.
State Cup Pathway
An annual cup pathway where advancing rounds means facing the state's strongest teams at each age group.
Coaching & Competition Level
Coached to Compete
Competitive rosters are led by licensed coaches who run structured training sessions, prepare players for game day, and provide individualized feedback throughout the season. Coaching staff track development against clear benchmarks for each age group and tier.
Competition level on a Madison 56ers competitive team means regular travel, a consistent training schedule, and games against clubs that field similarly prepared rosters. Players should expect a season built around preparation, not casual participation.
